Andy Stanley – More on HOPE

For anyone that didn’t know, my family has made NPCC our church and place of ministry recently.  After visiting for a few months we feel that we are in the right place and excited about what God is going to do through our family and this time.

For the past three weeks Andy Stanley has been speaking on a series called, “He’s Still Got the Whole World in His Hands” and it has been filled with HOPE.  Here are some bullets from the last message:

HE’S STILL GOT THE WHOLE WORLD IN HIS HANDS

Psalm 33:32

May your unfailing love  rest upon us, O Lord, even as we put our hope in You.

  • How do you maintain HOPE in a hopelessly broken world?
  • Only when we experience free fall do we look for HOPE.
  • Nothing is secure in this world

Romans 8:20 – 38

  • Sin infiltrated the world (polluted, corrupted)
  • It touches everything in this world
  • We live in a world of decay
  • We are in bondage of decay

So where is the HOPE?

  • Love of God = Security
  • When we loosen our grips on our plans in this world then only then will God begin to show us his plans for us and this world.
  • Place HOPE in the unfailing LOVE of GOD.

  1. I love his reference to Philipians 4:7.
    (The Message)
6-7Don’t fret or worry. Instead of worrying, pray. Let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers, letting God know your concerns. Before you know it, a sense of God’s wholeness, everything coming together for good, will come and settle you down. It’s wonderful what happens when Christ displaces worry at the center of your life.

It’s “our plans” and “our dreams” that may even create the bondange in our lives. You hear me? Especially when “his plans” and “his dreams” far exceed that of our own. Yet we continue to “KNOW BEST” and spend our time trying to change His mind. Hmph!
