Deck the Halls Video

I love the Christmas season because we celebrate JESUS!  Celebrate with me!

Hope Epidemic

At Graystone, we began a new series call HOPE Epidemic.  Nate Rector was the first to speak towards a subject of great need today, HOPE.

All of us have been hit by the baseball bat of this world at sometime.  Some have lost their spouses and family, others their jobs, homes, friends, but there is HOPE.  Here is the idea to remember and a couple of verses from the message this past Sunday.

What AIR is to the BODY, HOPE is to the SPIRIT.

Why are you cast down, O my soul, and why are you in turmoil within me?  Hope in God, for I shall again praise Him, my salvation and my God.

But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.   They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

If you could use some hope and encouragement, come check out HOPE Epidemic.  God wants you to know there is HOPE.

Thanksgiving thoughts 2010

My twelve year old son and I are spending the day together.  Here was my question to him.

“What are you thankful for?”  I know I shouldn’t end with a preposition, but this is what I asked.

His responses:

“I don’t know.  Is this a trick question?” he said.  Recessions touch everybody, even kids.

“No,” I replied.

“Well, my family…my toys…my house…friends…a yard to play in…food…clothes and our cars.”

Then I told him this:

While looking at verses for giving thanks, I came across several that all said, “Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good and His love endures forever.”  He loves us and always will.  God, our Father knows all of the hardships we are going through, but still His love endures.  Even when we question those circumstances or His will for our lives, His love endures.

Let’s think and give thanks for what He has done.  Maybe our perception will change and maybe we will bring positive thinking and hope to those around us.  Then we can move FORWARD and make a difference instead of sinking inward and being paralyzed.

God loves us!  There is hope!

Say What You Believe

If you’re an Echoing Angel fan, you should purchase their new single “Say What You Believe.”  You can buy it on iTunes for .99.  I listened to it yesterday for the first time and I’m sold.

They also have a Christmas album called, “God Bless Us.”  Check them out.

Good stuff.

Trust Him

Understanding God’s will for our lives is sometimes confusing at best. The Bible says that he has a plan for us. (Jeremiah 29:11-13) But, what if the plan isn’t as we would have designed. What then? Doesn’t he want what’s best for us? Doesn’t he want us happy?

Often times His will is nothing like ours. Do we give up trusting on the Creator? No. His best for us may be very different looking than we envisioned. Happiness can be chosen regardless of the circumstances. He loves us, but are our own children always happy with our decisions for them? No.  Yet, we do what is best for them.

The Bible also says everything is done for His glory, not ours. It’s hard sometimes, but we have to trust Him regardless of our circumstances. May you and I have the strength to take His plans for our lives.

“Acceptance is taking from God’s hand absolutely anything, He gives, looking into His face in trust and thanksgiving, knowing that the confinement of the situation we’re in is good and for His glory.”Charles Swindoll

God at Work at Graystone

This week, following the “I Love My Church” series at Graystone church, God moved through his people and their giving. The number needed to complete the current building campaign was $100k. Did anyone know we were in a recession?

I once heard Andy Stanley say that money follows vision. I believe it. I’ve seen organizations that lacked in vision, go bust. People will invest when they feel God’s vision is being pursued.

So, God’s people gave $113k!

The mission for Graystone is “to dominate our community with the love of Jesus Christ.”

Go, God! Go, Graystone!
